Southwest Gas Working on Renewable Natural Gas

Southwest Gas is working on bringing a clean and renewable source of energy to market from unconventional origins you may have never thought of. RNG is a renewable source of energy like wind and solar, and is harvested from landfills, dairy farms, and wastewater treatment plants. 

Methane is naturally emitted when organic products break down at these facilities; this methane either rises to the atmosphere or is flared off at the site. RNG is produced when

this methane is captured and processed to meet pipeline quality standards. As such, RNG is considered to be carbon-neutral.* RNG can be delivered through existing natural gas pipelines for use in businesses and homes. Since RNG is compatible with existing natural gas appliances, industrial equipment and compressed natural gas vehicles, end-users do not need to change their natural gas equipment to reap the environmental benefits of RNG. The innovative use of this energy can help vehicle fleet operators, residents, businesses,

cities, towns or communities meet their emission-reduction goals. In particular, a vehicle fleet powered by compressed renewable natural gas can be cleaner than a vehicle powered by electricity produced by

traditional power generation fuels.

Chamber Installation and Annual Awards

A great time was had by almost 100 attendees to our annual awards dinner held at the Hoover Dam Lodge. The food was great, networking was aplenty, and we even introduced a new fun raffle, thanks to the Boulder Dam Credit Union! Make sure you check out the pictures from the evening on our website!

Upcoming Ribbon Cuttings & Mixers

July 17 - SoapTree Cleaning Company 5:30 p.m. at the Multi-use building at 1204 6th Street. Appetizers, samples, drinks, and activities for the kids will be on tap during SoapTree's 5th anniversary celebration and Ribbon Cutting. Ribbon will be cut at 5:30! See you there!

August 25 - 19th anniversary celebration at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres provided, but you MUST RSVP to 702-332-6741. We hope you'll join us as we celebrate American heroes! The party starts at 5:00 p.m. 

FREE Mural for Your Business

America Grafton is the creator of Mojave Art Collective. She combines art and environmental knowledge with community involvement and conservation. The core piece of her summer project is to create beautiful murals completed by local artists showcasing Nevada's threatened and endangered species to promote reflection, education, and expanded conservation efforts.

America has started on a mural at the Boulder City Company Store where the business's name stands out among the beautifully painted mural. Check it out and then call America to have her come out and adorn your walls with her talents! 702-389-2046

Railroad Pass breaking ground on new hotel 

In cased to you missed it, the Henderson Chamber and Boulder City Chamber helped celebrate Railroad Pass's groundbreaking ceremony on their newest hotel tower, Holiday Inn Express. Joe DeSimone has created quite the stopover at the Interstate 11 interchange, complete with places to eat, gas, plenty of truck parking, easy on and off, and now additional hotel rooms. Congratulations Railroad Pass!

Bio Logical Awarded SBA's Microenterprise of the year 2020 and CEO Alana Wise awarded Vegas Inc.'s 40 under 40 for 2021

Alana Wise runs one of the fastest growing wildlife consulting firms in the region. With a background in construction, Alana and her company Bio logical is dedicated to plant and wildlife conservation while consulting with construction firms during their projects. She also started a non-profit, Desert Innovation Research and Technology (DIRT) dedicated to helping young people explore STEM education. Alan can be found microchipping desert tortoises and performing heath assessments in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife. Alana and her team are passionate about wildlife conservation, but she also works to create educational training program and resources to support the quality of independent biologists' workforce. The Las Vegas Greek Food Festival is BACK!

St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church is excited to announce the 48th annual Greek Food Festival September 10-12 at the Church on 5300 S El Camino, Las Vegas, 89118.
